How can I become a Grant Writer?

We recommend taking one of the following online courses:

If interested in working for a Nonprofit Organization then learn by taking "Grant Writingng for Nonprofit Organizations."
If interested in working for a Government Agency for a For Profit Business then learn by taking "Program Development and Proposal Writing"

Once you have your Certificate of Completion we recommend you volunteer at an organzation to gain experience. Then you're ready to apply for a job as a Grant Writer.

How do I become a Certified Grant Writer®

We offer the Certified Grant Writer® Series that includes the following components:

AGWA annual membership
Program Development and Proposal Writing online course
CGW Exam Review
CGW Exam

Once you pass the CGW Exam you will be awarded the Certified Grant Writer ® professional credential.

Does every business qualify for a Grant Award?

Many businesses and government agencies may be eligible to apply for a grant. Consideration should be given not just to eligibility, but also whether or not the business or agency is competitive.

Nonprofit Organizations with Exempt and Charitable status from IRS may qualify for Foundation grants, Corporate grants, and Government grants.
A For Profit Business (corporation, partnership, sole-proprietor, limited liability company) may quaify for Government grant based on the specific details published in the Notice of Grant Opportunity
